The Shelton Smith House

Before the Civil War
Slaves were people owned
Behind the green roofed two dormer house
You will find the slave's home.

John E. Shelton purchased this land in 1855. He being a craftsman, built this home for his friend Thomas W. Smith. Thomas would then become the the leading cigar manufacturer in Montgomery. Shelton had also built other homes in Montgomery before 1860.
After that Thomas's future generations owned and modified it like  in 1922 his grand daughter added dormers to the home. But it was sold in 1922. The house is now owned by Richard and Mary Eckhart. They also restored a lot of the house including the slave quarters.

Daisy is getting bored so its of to are next stop, the Davis Cottage.
